It’s as if they’re saying, I fully support that we should give up environmentally destructive behaviours…as long as it doesn’t inconvenience me.
We must drop the neoliberal fairy-tale and accept that business using the profit motive has been a spectacular failure.
It felt like an obvious PR stunt but almost no large media outlets characterized it that way.
I agree, they can do more, anyone can step up to do more…the question is will they?
Companies need to drop the charade and admit that their efforts to be sustainable have largely failed. It’s time to stop pretending to be part of the solution and come back to the table and be a real partner for positive change.
We are told by most politicians that our challenges are serious and that they are taking the necessary steps to protect us, but deep down we know better.
We’re not talking about a few tweaks here and there, but rather, a dramatic shift in the ideological approach and the narrative of the role of business.
